"We made a commitment not just to rebuild," Cypresswood Golf Club General Manager Jonathan Roberson said in an April 24, 2026 announcement. In the same release he called the clubhouse on Cypresswood Drive "exactly that" commitment taking shape, a building meant to come back "better than ever" after Hurricane Harvey destroyed the original.
The bigger change is when the club will be open, more than the building itself. The April plan describes lit golf, a lit putting course, a two-level TopTracer range and a sports bar serving until 11:30 p.m. That would make a daytime course into a place that stays busy well after dark. As of October 4, 2026, none of those evening features has been confirmed open. The club's daytime golf is fully playable, and it still runs out of a temporary setup.
The completion date has already moved once
The 2025 state filing set clubhouse completion for May 2026. The two 2026 records push completion to the third quarter, and the club's announcement sets a separate November target for the public grand opening.
| Record | What it said | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, registered March 27, 2025 | Two-story, 40,293-square-foot clubhouse, about $7 million, start date May 16, 2025 | Completion May 15, 2026 |
| Contractor's project page, published July 29, 2026 | Clubhouse construction | Third quarter of 2026 |
| Club announcement, April 24, 2026 | Full destination rebuild | Q3 2026 completion, November 2026 grand opening |
The state filing describes a building with a club store, banquet hall, grille, driving deck and cart parking. The third quarter ended September 30. The club's own recent comments suggest the building wasn't finished by then. On September 23, Cypresswood replied to a Google review and thanked the golfer for their patience while the clubhouse work continued. The reviewer had described the clubhouse as still "progressing."
That leaves the November 2026 grand opening as the only public date still ahead. The April release said a VIP Experience Day for media, local leaders and partners would come first, followed by the public opening. No specific date for either had been published as of early October.
What actually runs this week
Golf itself is open on both courses. The club's online booking system showed 18-hole tee times on the Cypress Course and the Tradition Course for Monday, October 5, 2026.
The Cypress greens are the one area of the rebuild golfers can already see. Under the April plan, those greens are being expanded by roughly 50 percent, back to their original size and contours. They're being resurfaced with Paspalum Platinum, the same turf used on the Tradition Course. A September 23 reviewer said new greens were "going in" on Cypress, and the club's reply mentioned moving forward with the greens and the clubhouse together. A reviewer writing on October 4 called the "new and improved Cypress Course" beautiful "to see and play." That's one golfer's view, not a club statement that the work is finished.
Here's what reviews from late summer describe at the clubhouse level:
- Check-in: An August 28 reviewer described a "portable clubhouse," and the club's reply asked for patience while the new building was finished.
- Food: An August 14 reviewer said there was no kitchen service because of construction and bought hot dogs from the beverage cart. The club thanked them for using cart service.
- Pro shop: In a July 17 reply, the club referred to investing in "the new pro shop." It hasn't published details on the temporary arrangement.
The weekday Play Pass is the current membership option. It costs $160 a month plus tax for unlimited Monday-through-Thursday green fees, with a $25 cart fee per 18 holes. The $320 tier includes carts and range use on those days, and a stand-alone PracticePass costs $100 a month for range access seven days a week. The April announcement also mentioned charter membership and pre-sale packages for founding members, but no prices or terms have been published.
The next fixed date on the calendar comes before the new building opens. The 2026 Traditionfest is a four-person scramble on the Tradition Course on Friday, October 16, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The $129 per-player entry covers green fee, cart, range balls, beer, contests and a BBQ plate before play.
What the rebuild adds after sunset
Most of the planned features are lit or built for evening use. The April release names each one:
| Feature | What's planned | Effect on hours |
|---|---|---|
| The Flight Deck | 20 TopTracer bays inside the clubhouse, 10 on the ground level and 10 upstairs | A range that doesn't depend on daylight |
| The Firefly | Front nine of the Cypress Course lit by Musco lighting | Nine holes playable after dark |
| Putting course | Two acres, Musco-lit, for all skill levels | Short-game play at night |
| Practice facility | Redesigned with grass hitting surfaces, target greens and Musco lighting | Lit practice |
| The Hangar | Full-service sports bar and grill serving until 11:30 p.m. | Kitchen open hours after the last tee time |
| Banquet and event space | Up to 340 guests | Weddings, corporate and private events |
The release also lists a new GPS-equipped EZGO cart fleet and a recycled water system. It credits Harris County Commissioner Tom Ramsey, Foresight Golf President Dan Pedrotti Jr. and Paradigm Construction as partners in what it calls a public-private project.
The 11:30 p.m. closing time at The Hangar only appears in the April announcement, and prices for TopTracer bays, night golf and the putting course haven't been posted. The club's current rates page lists only standard green fees for the two courses. Until the club publishes hours and prices, the evening schedule is a plan, not a timetable.
The rest of the evening is already open
The club isn't the only new evening option nearby. Several openings in the Cypresswood and Kuykendahl area this summer are already running:
- Craving Kernels opened its second Spring shop on August 15 at 6925 Cypresswood Drive, Ste. B. It sells gourmet popcorn, sweets and ice cream.
- Common Bond Coffee & Bakery opened June 18 at 21620 Kuykendahl Road, with 78 indoor seats and 32 on the patio.
- Casa Nueva Mexican Grill and Bar soft-opened September 16 at 8921 Louetta Road with a full bar.
- The Yemeni Bean soft-opened July 30 at 16803 Stuebner Airline Road and held its grand opening August 3. It serves Yemeni and Turkish coffee, brunch and desserts.
Trader Joe's has announced a store at 21364 Kuykendahl Road, but as of Community Impact's April 15 report, the opening date was still to be determined.
Craving Kernels is on Cypresswood Drive, the same road as the club at 21602 Cypresswood Drive. Once the club's evening features open, a round of night golf and a dessert stop can happen on one road.
A longer project: the Cypresswood Spring Trail
The trail named for the area is on a much longer schedule than the clubhouse. The Cypresswood Spring Trail is planned as a 3.52-mile, 8-foot-wide concrete path linking the Cypress Creek and Spring Creek greenways. It would run from Cypress Creek Park at Timber Lane to Pundt Park. Harris County Commissioners Court approved the agreement between Precinct 3 and the Houston Parks Board on August 6.
Lisa Graiff, a senior project manager with the Houston Parks Board, gave the schedule at a September 17 community meeting. Design should finish by July 2027, followed by a few months of bidding and about a year of construction, with completion estimated by July 2028. Construction is estimated at about $5 million, and the Parks Board is applying for a federal grant to cover it. Graiff said "the schedule might grow a little bit" if funding isn't in place by July 2027. Precinct 3 will maintain the finished trail, with mile markers every quarter mile so emergency responders can find callers quickly.
The clubhouse is likely the first of these projects to open, with a November target. The trail is set for summer 2028 and depends on funding.
Big amenity projects like the Cypresswood Golf Club rebuild can change how a stretch of road is used and how buyers see the homes along it. The Jamie Bechtold Group follows those details closely.
